Canal Marina imagines an island masterplan destination anchored by a a picturesque, family-friendly resort town. The vision prioritises a fine-grain network of shaded streets and landscape corridors that protect sensitive ecologies while uplifting the soul through a sequence of coastal arrivals and viewpoints.
The architectural language of this village took its inspiration from regional vernacular principles, utilising courtyards, textured massing, and climate-led comfort strategies to establish a distinctive identity to the new town. The marina is a focal point for dining and leasure, featuring upscale restaurants and cafes, perfect for people-watching in the evenings. The town centre is pedestrianized, with many restaurants, shops, and cocktail bars.
By designing the masterplan from the inside-out, starting with the granularity of required functions rather than a large-scale approach, we managed to design a masterplan that felt grown through time. The scheme creates a vernacular scaffold for activity where leisure amenities and public spaces act as social connectors, weaving together five distinct hospitality resorts and village-style residential neighbourhoods.
Our approach balances high-density requirements with environmental respect, delivering 1,300 hotel keys and 2,000 homes around the marinas. By focusing on responsible design and "loose fit" principles, the masterplan provides long-term viability and adaptability.
