AFK Architectural Designer Muireann Phillips named in Mix Interiors' '30 Under 30'
We’re proud that Muireann Phillips has been recognised as a Mix 30 under 30 on account of her strong design skills, creative flare, and client trust!
Muireann Phillips joined AFK with an enthusiastic curiosity about design, people, and the environments we inhabit. With a master’s in architecture, she approaches each project by first understanding the inherent opportunities, before applying her artistic creativity to reimagine it. She has developed a confidence allowing her to challenge assumptions by others more senior and take on responsibilities well beyond her years in practice.
Muireann’s ability to learn quickly and manage complex, overlapping demands has taken her into the role of project lead for a global client, where she oversees the redesign of their workplace interiors across London and international sites. This technically exacting work requires her to unify highly specialised buildings with their associated people-centric office environments. Her development of their Built Environment Brand Guidelines is now informing workplace sites worldwide: earlier this year, she headed a team invited by the client to Europe to undertake a site visit for a new project, and to present this framework to global stakeholders.
Her versatility extends well beyond commercial environments. She has contributed to the planning of large-scale mixed-use residential schemes in London and hospitality masterplans internationally. This breadth is underpinned by an interest in arts and craft, bringing a tactile, human quality to her work with a consistent care for materiality and details, be that on hospitality projects, corporate headquarters, or private homes.
Muireann has earned the trust of clients, collaborators, and peers through a calm and a humorous demeanour. Her ability to engage confidently at all levels while maintaining clarity under pressure has made her a key part of project teams and our studio culture more broadly. She has become a mentor and role model to junior team members, while her work exemplifies the kind of talent AFK seeks to nurture.
