Winners of the AFK Architectural Futures: Representation Award announced

AFK is proud to announce Karina Hung as the winner and Michael Wong as the runner-up of AFK's inaugural Architectural Futures: Representation Award, organised by AFK in partnership with the University of Westminster School of Architecture.

Winner: Karina Hung

Karina’s submission was selected for its exceptional approach to architectural representation. Her work demonstrated how visual methods can establish a direct, meaningful dialogue with project development, beautifully embodying the core ambition of the award. As part of her prize, Karina joined AFK for a summer placement, continuing this creative dialogue directly within practice.

My time at AFK provided invaluable insight into the architecture industry, greatly broadening my professional perspective. Michael’s work stood out among a strong field of student submissions for its thoughtful, highly distinctive approach to architectural communication and narrative clarity.

Supporting emerging talent

Created to recognise excellence in both traditional and evolving visual media, the award celebrates work where representation is an active design engine rather than just a final presentation tool. Submissions spanned a broad spectrum of visual mediums, including drawing, model-making, print, CGI, film, and AI-informed visual processes.

We extend our congratulations to Karina and Michael, along with sincere thanks to all the students and tutors from the University of Westminster who contributed to a memorable inaugural year.

The Architectural Futures: Representation Award reflects AFK’s commitment to supporting emerging architectural talent and strengthening the bond between academia and professional practice. We look forward to expanding the programme in the coming years.
