First Base and Starwood get green light in Bermondsey

By Richard Williams (Property Week)

First Base and Starwood Capital have received planning consent to build a £130m residential-led scheme in Bermondsey.

Southwark Council’s planning chiefs gave the green light to the development, at 151-157 Tower Bridge Road, which will provide 69 apartments and a 137-bed apart hotel across three buildings.

The ground floor of the The Arney Fender Katsalidis-designed scheme will provide space for independent shops and boutiques as well as flexible workspace for creative businesses.

Barry Jessup, director at First Base, said: “We are delighted that Southwark Council share our enthusiasm for bringing forward these unique and characterful buildings to Bermondsey. As with all First Base schemes, we look forward to combining high quality architecture that will become iconic to this area with active and enlivened public spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.”
